Bioenergy-Duna, a unit of municipally-owned district heating provider Mohács-Hő Hőszolgáltató Kft., completed construction of a biomass-fuelled heating plant, through their investment of HUF 672 mln in Mohács in southern Hungary, the local municipality announced today.

Less than half of the investment costs were covered by EU and Hungarian state grants.

The 4.5MW plant is expected to generate 60,000 GJ of energy annually, covering 75% of the town's district heating needs from renewable fuel from January, 2015.

The company provides district heating and hot water to approximately 2,000 homes and more than 30 public buildings and shops.
