Grand Casino opens in Debrecen

History

The Grand Casino was opened at the Debrecen (located in eastern Hungary) shopping center on Friday through investment of HUF 750 mln by Aranybónusz 2000 Kft., which won the concession right for ten years, Hungarian news agency MTI reported on Saturday. The concession right can be extended for another five years.

Aranybónusz 2000 has also won the concession right for another casino in Nyiregyhaza, also in E Hungary. The Debrecen Grand Casino employs 80 people. Aranybónusz 2000 won concessions for casinos, in Debrecen and Nyíregyháza, both in the east of the country, at the same time.

The gambling act allows the issue of eleven licenses: five in Budapest and Pest County, three in eastern Hungary and three in the west of the country.

The two casinos of Aranybónusz were among the seven concession contracts granted by the National Economy Ministry in May 2014. The remaining five concessions were awarded to Las Vegas Casino, owned by Andy Vajna, the government's film industry commissioner. At present there are three casinos operating in Hungary: two in Budapest, one of which is owned by Las Vegas Casino, and one in Sopron, near the border with Austria.

The law allows at most eleven casino concessions: five in Budapest and environs, three in west Hungary and three in the east of the country.
