Revenue of Hungarian flooring maker Graboplast rose 4% to close to HUF 19 billion last year, the company said on Friday. EBITDA increased 8% to more than HUF 1.7 bln.

Graboplast exports generated more than 90% of turnover. The company employs nearly 650 people at its home and special flooring plants in Győr and Tatabánya (in northwestern Hungary), and its parquet plant in Kecskémet (in central Hungary, 93 km southeast of), national news agency MTI reported.

The company plans capital expenditures of about HUF 750 million this year. It is also launching a HUF 1 bln R&D project that aims to produce a sports flooring that is both hygienic and prevents injury.

European Union grant money is covering about half of the cost of the R&D project. Commercial production of the new flooring could start in 2020.
