With the Chevrolet brand leaving the markets of Central and Eastern Europe by the end of the year, General Motors is expected to transfer repair services and spare parts for Hungarian Chevrolet owners to Opel Central and Eastern Europe, Chevrolet Central and Eastern Europe Kft. managing director Gyögy Megyeri told Hungarian news agency MTI on Friday.

General Motors announced in December 2013 that it would withdraw the Chevrolet brand from Europe by 2015 and will focus on the Opel brand on the continent, MTI noted. Since Chevrolet entered the market, Hungarian customers have purchased more than 35,000 Chevrolets, MTI added.

Megyeri told the news agency that his company will operate without a staff as of January, and part of the over 60 employees were reemployed by Opel Magyarország, he said. Chevrolet employed about 100 people in the region, he reportedly said.
