Gender gap: Women earn 21% less than men in Hungary
Hungarian women earn, on average, about 21% less than men, according to data collected by fizetesek.hu, a salaries site run by jobs portal Workania. The newly-released data show men earned on average HUF 220,000 a month last year, while women took home just HUF 173,400.
Hungarian women have earned 21% less than men since 2011. In the years before that, the difference was 23%.
The difference between men’s and women’s pay gets bigger the higher the position, Workania reported: Top women managers make 26% less than their male counterparts. Those in middle management earn 18% less. The difference for positions requiring university degrees, but not in management is 16%, and the gap is 12% for administrative jobs.
In the service sector, the difference is 19%.
