Forbes Hungary set for November launch
Big news for the Hungarian media sphere this week as Forbes Media has announced its entry into the country’s market with a Hungary-centric edition of its flagship business title. Mediarey Kft will serve as publisher for Forbes Hungary, which is slated for a November release date. Content is planned to be in a 60/40 ratio of original Hungary-based news and reprints from other editions of the magazine.
Forbes Hungary represents the 30th international edition – and the 16th for Europe – with more promised to be added to the roster by year’s end. The last editions added to the Forbes stable prior to Hungary’s were for Vietnam and Thailand, with those magazines hitting newsstands in June.
Partnering with Forbes and Mediarey on the publication will be Business Consulting & Media, the parent company of Mediarey who also assisted in the launch of recent editions in Slovakia (2010) and Czech Republic (2011).
Hungary was felt to be key for the Forbes publishing model, with the company’s President of Worldwide Development Miguel Forbes explaining that the launch of Forbes Hungary “continues our rapid expansion into Eastern Europe, which has become a very important strategic footprint for Forbes.”
Business Consulting & Media managing director Erik Conrad added in a statement, “We are proud to expand Forbes magazine further in the region and bring this prestigious brand with its high-quality and exclusive journalistic content to another market in central Europe.”
And congratulations go out to Márton Galambos, former managing editor of Hungarian news portal Origo.hu, who was named to the position of Forbes Hungary editor-in-chief. Forbes was first published in New York City 1917, with the company producing its first international edition in 1998. In May 2013, the Slovakian edition of Forbes sold 14,517 copies, while the Czech Republic’s version sold 14,369.
