Mobility provider FlixBus says it has doubled the number of its Hungarian passengers, while also posting a 50% increase in European numbers, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal
Among the 17 countries directly accessible from Hungary the most popular proved to be: Austria, Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
"Our goal is to provide mobility opportunities to explore the world which is accessible for everyone, and we are glad to see that buses are becoming the first choice of more and more people, even on longer routes," says FlixBus founder André Schwämmlein.
The company attributes the positive results to the expansion of its services. As it did last year, the company extended its network again this summer, launching 28 buses daily towards Vienna on busy days up from 16 in 2017. FlixBus also started six buses to Zagreb on high-demand days, alongside daily buses to the Croatian beaches. Lake Balaton in Hungary was also accessible from seven countries.
