Felcsút’s mayor wins mineral water tender
Felcsút’s forint billionaire mayor Lőrinc Mészáros, a cohort of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, made a lucrative move by entering the mineral water business earlier this year, when his Búzakalász 66 Kft. bought assets of the bankrupt Vivien Zrt. for an estimated HUF 190 mln, online news portal hvg.hu reported yesterday.
According to business news portal napi.hu, Hungarian National Railways MÁV recently bought mineral water from Vivien valued at HUF 2 mln, in spite of being under contract with Immofix Kft., MÁV’s official mineral water supplier from whom the state-owned rail company will have purchased HUF 403 mln worth of mineral water over two years, through a public procurement tender won by the company last year.
According to napi.hu, MÁV indicated that it may re-negotiate the terms or possibly terminate its contract with Immofix; a move which would enable the entry of a new mineral water supplier into the mix.
Mészáros once told Hungarian paper Heti Válasz that the “Good Lord, luck and Viktor Orbán” have played a major role in him becoming so successful.
