Electricity distributors Elmű and Émász, majority-owned by Germany's RWE-EnBW, has started operating the first two electric cars in its fleet of vehicles and opened its first charging station, chairman Maria-Theresa Thiell said on Wednesday. Retail consumers may make use of the charging station for electric cars free of charge for a year until September 30, 2011, Thiell said. There are about ten electric vehicles in Hungary, said Elmű-Émász communications director Norbert Boross. Thiell noted that an electric car costs about four times as much as a car that runs on conventional fuel. (MTI-Econews)
