Paper packaging maker Dunapack is to spend more than HUF 1.7 bln on developing technology to increase production capacity at its Nyíregyháza (northeastern Hungary) plant, managing director Attila Galambos told MTI.

The company won a HUF 851m European Union grant for the development, which includes purchasing a flexographic printing equipment, increasing production capacity by 20 million square meters.

Galambos told MTI that the equipment, worth €2.7 mln, will be unique in Hungary and only one or two plants have equipment of a similar size in the CEE region.

Test operation of the new equipment is scheduled to end at the end of November and full production capacity will be reached from mid-January.

Galambos said the plant had revenue of HUF 12bn in 2013 and projects a revenue increase both this year and in 2015. Dunapack is owned by Austria's Prinzhorn group.
