Deutsche Telekom eyes acquisition in Eastern Europe

German operator Deutsche Telekom is considering two transactions in Eastern Europe to strengthen its position in the region, the Wall-Street Journal Deutschland wrote Monday citing several people familiar with the matter. According to the report, Deutsche Telekom is considering buying Poland’s GTS Central Europe for €600 million ($775 million). The telecoms group is also looking to purchase the remaining stake of almost 40% in its T-Mobile unit in the Czech Republic from private equity firm Mid Europa Partners, the WSJ Deutschland said, citing a person familiar with the situation.
