Competition office investigates drug wholesalers over suspicion of cartel activity

Pharma

Hungary's competition office (GVH) has launched an investigation against pharmaceutical wholesalers EUROMEDIC-PHARMA, HUNGAROPHARMA and TEVA Magyarország Gyógyszerforgalmazó, as well as PharmAudit and MEDICON PROFESSIONAL Egészségügyi Tanácsadó over suspicion of cartel activity. As the first step of the investigation, GVH officials held an announced on-site inspection on the premises of the companies. GVH said it can be assumed based on data available to the office that, in connection with a public procurement procedure called in 2011, the above companies agreed on the offer prices and distributed the affected products among themselves. GVH has six months to complete the investigation, which can be extended on two occasions by a maximum of six months each time.
