Competition office greenlights Budapesti Erőmű buyout
Hungaryʼs Competition Office (GVH) has approved EP Energyʼs buyout of power plant company Budapesti Erőmű, Hungarian news agency MTI reported, citing an official statement by GVH.
EP Energy, of the Czech Republic, acquired a 95.5% stake in Budapesti Erőmű at the end of June from Franceʼs EDF. Budapesti Erőmű supplies 60% of the capitalʼs district heating and its three power plants generate 3% of Hungaryʼs total electricity output.
EP Energy is the Czech Republicʼs biggest provider of district heating and the second-largest generator of electricity. It also has businesses in Slovakia and Germany.
