City to set up company to buy assets of troubled sausage maker
The municipal council of Gyula will establish a company within days to buy the assets of troubled sausage maker Gyulai Húskombinát, a big employer in the city, mayor Ernő Görgényi said on Monday after a meeting with National Reorganization Nonprofit. Görgényi said the city had earlier received HUF 1.8 billion to preserve jobs and for economic developments under a government decision. He added that the money was being used to "renew the meat industry", not for Gyulai Húskombinát, which is under liquidation. Farm ministry state secretary Gyula Budai, who participated at the meeting on Monday, said the government considers preserving jobs in Gyula's meat industry an important task.
