CEZ quarterly profit jumps 24% on Albania exit
CEZ AS, the Czech Republic’s largest electricity company, reported first-quarter earnings that beat analyst estimates after exiting unprofitable Albanian operations and trading carbon permits. Net income rose 24% to CZK 17.9 billion ($912 million) from CZK 14.4 billion in the year-earlier period, the Prague-based company said Wednesday in a statement. Sales fell 1% to CZK 60 billion.
