Budapest bath visitor numbers up 12% in summer

All 11 of the functioning units of Budapest bath operator Budapest Gyógyfürdői és Hévizei Zrt. (BGYH) had a strong performance during the summer as they received nearly 1.18 million visitors combined during the June-August period, the company said on Friday.

BGYH noted the number of visitors was up 12% in the three months compared to the same period last year. Visitor numbers rose 43-50% at open-air baths and from 6-20% at spas, national news agency MTI reports.


Visitor numbers were highest at the Széchenyi spa, where they rose by 5.89% to 326,830. Dagály baths were closed for this summer, bringing down average visitor numbers, as it was one of the venues of the FINA World Championships.


BGYHʼs revenues in the summer was up 17% compared to last year. The company will publish full income records at the end of the year.
