Austrian Post entry to Hungary market denied
Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has not been able to issue a license for Feibra to enter the recently deregulated postal market because the Austrian Post unit has failed, so far, to meet all legal requirements, the NMHH told MTI on Thursday. Feibra submitted an application to enter the market for delivery of letters under 50g to the NMHH in January. Hungary's postal market was deregulated from the start of 2013. Austrian Post CEO Georg Polzl said in March that the state-owned Hungarian postal company Magyar Posta “clearly has the advantage” under the law on the market's deregulation. “It is as if Austria would draw up legislation that allows only public servants to deliver letters,” he added. Feibra already leads Hungary's direct mail market, according to its website.
