The Austrian government today sent a formal letter of complaint to the European Commission outlining its objections to the upgrade of Hungary’s sole nuclear power plant in Paks, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
The Austrian government’s key concern regarding the upgrade is that the project has received “unacceptable state financing” to fund a non-sustainable technology. It also expressed concerns that these measures could lead to a “distortions on the internal electricity market" and push out players in the sustainable energy sector.
