Hungaryʼs social media scene seems to be changing, although Facebook is still unrivaled as market leader, online news portal hvg.hu reported yesterday, citing a new report by KutatóCentrum.

Google+ users were the oldest among social media users gauged by the Web 2.0 survey, while younger users go for chat and sites that are heavily focused on visuals, the portal said. Chat platforms and communication-based channels are becoming popular in Hungary, too, following international trends, the report said.

Hungarian respondents use Viber the second most after Facebookʼs Messenger, it said. Four out of ten internet users said they prefer to use a social media platform for messaging to e-mail. The report also said visuals are becoming more important for Hungarians.

Pinterest and Instagram have recorded the largest growth rates, double and triple in a year, respectively, in user activity, researcher Szilvia Balogh told hvg.hu.
