Tuzson: Supporters of immigrants are against Hungarians

Former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány (pictured) and his party Democratic Coalition have taken the side of immigrants rather than that of the Hungarian population, Fidesz MP Bence Tuzson said at a press conference yesterday, only hours after Gyurcsány told journalists that it is Hungary’s humanitarian and Christian obligation and duty as an EU member state to accept immigrants.

Gyurcsány was referring to the European Commission’s proposal, which established that Hungary should accept 700 immigrants, online news portal 444.hu reported. Tuzson reportedly said that Fidesz does not want to spend billions of forints on immigrants, adding that Gyurcsány should explain himself as to why he favors immigrants, while considering Hungarian minorities in neighboring countries of less importance.
