Szijjártó: Hungary will expand fence along Romanian border
The Hungarian government has made a decision to expand the wire fence on the Hungarian-Serbian border, and continue it along the Hungarian-Romanian border for a “sensible distance”, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s foreign minister said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
The minister said the measure is necessary because the recently constructed fence on the Hungarian-Serbian border has forced human traffickers to modify their routes, so that migration pressure could now shift towards Romania.
