The fence the Hungarian government is currently building on the Serbian border to prevent the influx of illegal immigrants into the country, could be completed by November, Fidesz caucus leader Antal Rogán told Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap today.

According to Reuters, Hungary registered more than 80,000 immigrants this year, compared to 43,000 last year. Rogán expects numbers to reach 200,000 to 300,000 this year, therefore he believes that “it is especially justified that the fence along the Serbian-Hungarian border be completed as soon as possible, by November.”
“There may be debates about this, but I personally know of no better solution,” Rogán told the Hungarian daily, adding that he expects the fence to reduce the number of incoming immigrants to a seventh of current levels.
