Report: EBRD directors wind up visit to Hungary
The Board of directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have wound up a visit to Hungary, where they met with political and business leaders as well as non-government organizations, EBRD alternate director Antal Nikoletti said in an interview published in Thursdayʼs issue of daily Magyar Hírlap.
Eight of the EBRDʼs directors visited Budapest for the Board Consultation, Nikoletti told the paper.
"My EBRD colleagues were able to understand what has happened and what is happening in Hungary in a number of areas. There are certain topics that require continuous communication, and we must continue a methodical dialogue in order for decision-makers to get a more thorough insight into these matters," he said.
He added that the EBRDʼs assessment of Hungary had improved.
"The countryʼs image is improving tangibly. Strong economic performance is an important factor, and we trust that it is a sustainable and positive trend," he said.
"The EBRD sees Hungary as a democratically structured, economically successful and market-based, modern, European country, and a good place to invest," he added.
