R&D spending rises to Ft 208 bln in 2005

The number of researchers increased by about 1,000 in 2005, while the number of R&D facilities fell 25, the report showed.
About Ft 207.8 billion, or 0.95% of GDP, was spend on R&D in 2005. Companies increased their R&D spending 20% and universities spent 17.1% more. In line with the NKTH's goals, concentration in the R&D sector continued, with the number of researchers per R&D facility rising to 6.3 from 5.9. The number of researchers rose to 15,878 from 14,904, while the number of R&D facilities fell to 2,516 from 2,541. The number of research projects per hundred researchers fell to 144 from 152.
The NKTH bases its findings on figures from the Central Statistics Office (KSH).
