Pharmacy launches English-language webshop

Hungarian-owned pharmacy Gyógyhír Patika launched an English-language webshop, which is expected to double sales, Managing director Gizi Mező announced today.
Mező added that the website was designed to aide foreigners in Hungary, as according to recent data, approximately 143,600 foreigners with valid residency permits were living in Hungary at the beginning of last year. Almost 43% lived in Budapest, where Gyógyir Patika is located. The pharmacy is expecting the English-language webshop to generate more than 10% of total turnover.
The pharmacy launched its Hungarian-language webshop approximately four years ago, and it reportedly accounts for about 5% of the pharmacy's annual turnover of HUF 300 mln. Mező pointed out that only 46 of Hungary's 2,300 pharmacies have registered webshops, but none of these were in operation.
