Passenger Numbers on Balaton Pleasure Cruises up 20%

Traveler numbers on boats operated by Balatoni Hajózási (BAHART) were up 10% at more than 1.8 million from a year earlier in January-August, with 20% more tickets sold for pleasure cruises, the company said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
The number of tourists traveling on Bahart passenger boats exceeded 640,000 in the first eight months, 60,000 more than a year earlier.
The company's scheduled boats carried more than 475,000 passengers and close to 160,000 tourists bought tickets for pleasure cruises, 20% more than in the 2021 season.
Passenger ferries between Tihany, on the north shore, and Szantod, on the south, carried 1.185 million passengers by the end of summer, up 6% from a year earlier.
