Number of registered job-seekers falls to 581,000 in August

The number of registered job-seekers in Hungary fell to 581,000 at the end of August according to seasonally-adjusted data, down 1,000 from July, fresh data published by the National Employment Service (NFSZ) shows.

Unadjusted figures show the number of the registered job-seekers was 549,000, down 0.9% from July, but up 0.5% from August 2010.

Around 144,200 of the registered job-seekers had looked for work for more than twelve months, down from both the previous month and a year earlier, NFSZ said.

There were 44,000 new jobs posted at employment offices in August, up 5.7% from the previous month, and up 61.8% from a year earlier. About 70% of the new jobs were subsidized by the state.

In the business sector employers announced 12,900 non-subsidized new jobs in August, down 6.7% from July and down 9.5% from August 2010.
