New Private Boat Service Launches on Lake Balaton

Tourism

A new scheduled private boat service on weekends started between Balatonfenyves (160 km southwest of Budapest) and Szigliget (165 km southwest) on Saturday, according to profitline.hu.

At the launch press conference, Gábor Lombár, the mayor of Balatonfenyves, recalled that in 1997, the plan was created for the settlement to have a port for the local sailing association and a scheduled boat service, which has now been fully realized.

He suggested that the nearby presence of the Fenyves light railway, the small Nagy-Berek lake and the Cszista thermal spa would also make it worthwhile sailing from the northern coast to Balatonfenyves.
