National mobile payment system turnover reaches HUF 11.2 bln in first year

Turnover of Hungaryʼs national mobile payment system reached HUF 11.2 bln in its first year of operation, the CEO of the systemʼs operator, Nemzeti Mobilfizetési, said yesterday. Parking fees generated HUF 7 bln of the turnover and motorway vignettes HUF 4.2 bln, said Mihály Veres.

The system processed 16.8 mln parking fee transactions and 1.1m motorway vignette purchases during the period, he added. Next, Nemzeti Mobilfizetési wants to launch sales of public transport tickets. The system could start in some areas from the autumn already, Veres said.
