Hungarian tourists prefer traveling to Mediterranean destinations during the summer holiday season and all-inclusive vacations are also in high demand, according to leisure, travel, and tourism company TUI.

TUI says that, among Hungarians, the desire to travel is unbroken and summer bookings are off to a good start. Tourists booking their holiday at the company have an average travel duration of 7.6 days and are spending an average of EUR 980 per person.

A look at the hotel category shows that over 84 % of TUI guests from Hungary booked their trip in four- and five-star hotels.

In the country ranking, Turkey, Spain, and Croatia take first place on the medium-haul route. Some 67% of TUI guests from Hungary are drawn to one of these three countries. Greece follows in fourth place with the popular vacation islands of Crete, Rhodes, and Kos.

Turkey is celebrating its comeback in the summer of 2023 with an increase in the number of guests compared to the previous year.

In a breakdown of exact destinations, Antalya (Turkey) takes first place ahead of Mallorca (Spain) and Larnaca (Cyprus).

When it comes to long-haul routes, Tanzania is the most popular choice amon Hungarian tourists booking at TUI, followed by Indonesia, the Maldives, and the United Arab Emirates.

All-inclusive Packages Popular Among Hungarians

"People want budget security, which is especially important in these times. They want to know what the vacation will ultimately cost, and with an all-inclusive booking, all incidental costs are already included in the price at the hotel," says Gottfried Math, managing director of TUI Austria, in relation to the popularity of all-inclusive bookings.

"Currently, 70% of summer bookings from Hungary include an all-inclusive package," notes Tamás Taskár, TUI sales manager Hungary.

The all-inclusive deals are especially in high demand in countries like Turkey and Egypt.

"I am all the more pleased that in the summer we are offering up to 14 weekly departures from Budapest to Antalya with TUI and now also two weekly departures to Izmir as well as to Hurghada," says Taskár.

The three most-booked hotels for TUI's Hungarian guests in summer 2023 are on the Turkish Riviera: the four-star TUI Magic Life Jacaranda club, followed by the five-star Rixos Premium Tekirova and Delphin Be Grand Resort Lara - all on an all-inclusive basis.
