More than 566,000 passengers used the trains in the Balaton pre-season, according to rail and coach company MÁV-Volán, writes Világgazdaság.
In the first 37 days of the main season, 1.124 million people validated tickets, which is 41% higher than the result of the first 37 days of last summer season.

The renewed Balaton24 and Balaton72 day tickets are popular not only on trains but also on several Volánbusz routes around the lake.
According to MÁV-Volán, the most popular locations have been Siófok (110 km southwest of Budapest), Keszthely (185 km southwest), Zamárdi (120 km southwest), Balatonfüred (130 km southwest), and Fonyód (150 km southwest).
