KSH: More deaths than births in Hungary in Jan-Oct
The number of deaths in Hungary in the first ten months of the year was more than the number of births, so that the natural decrease in population was 33,291, which is 5,382 greater than the natural decrease in the same period last year, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today.
Although the number of children born was up 0.5% year-on-year in January-October, reaching 76,531, the number of deaths was 109,822 – an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period a year earlier.
The population is also affected by migration, which in the last few years has seen more people leaving Hungary than moving in.
In the first ten months of the year, the number of marriages was up by 16% as compared to the same period a year earlier, reaching 40,845, data by KSH shows.
