KSH: Guest nights up 2.5%
The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary was up 2.5% y.o.y. reaching 2,069,000 in September, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported today. The rise slowed from a 3.8% y.o.y increase in the previous month.
Guest nights by foreign visitors fell by 0.7% down to 1,201,000, but domestic nights increased by 7.3% to 868,000.
Total revenue from commercial accommodations saw a rise of 6.9% reaching HUF 31.4 bln. Gross revenue of room fees was HUF 18.2 bln, while catering revenue was HUF 6.6 bln.
Germans still spend the most on guest nights in Hungary, although there was a 2.2% decrease down to 247,016 guest nights by Germans at commercial accommodations. UK visitors came second with 72,908 guest nights, up by 9.3%, and Russians finished third with 67,913 guest nights, down 1.4%.
The number of guest nights rose 4.9% to 19,304,000 in January-September from the same period a year earlier. Foreign guest nights rose 1.8% to 9,783,000, while domestic guest nights climbed 8.3% to 9,521,000.
The hotel occupancy rate was 57% in September. Gross revenue of the sector climbed 9.3% to HUF 250.8 bln in January-September.
