Internet subscriptions increase 31.2% in a year to June

There were about 1,034 million internet subscriptions in Hungary at the end of June, 31.2% more than twelve months earlier, and were up 2.9% from the previous three months, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Wednesday. The number of broadband subscribers increased 68%, while the number of dial-up subscribers decreased. Broadband subscriptions outnumbered dial-up subscriptions 3 to 1 at the end of March. Internet service providers (ISP) had revenue of Ft 21.65 billon (€ 78.759 million) in the Q2 of 2006, 43.3% more than in the same period a year earlier. The number of ISPs increased 35 to 230 in the twelve months to June 30, however, the market remained highly concentrated, with 19 ISPs accounting for 90% of all subscriptions. (Mti-Eco)
