Hungary population decline slows in 2014
The decline of Hungary’s population slowed in 2014, with the number of births rising and the number of deaths remaining lower than the previous year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported today in its preliminary figures.
The number of live births rose by a year-on-year 3.2% to 91,500, while the number of deaths edged down by a year-on-year 0.5% to 126,100.
According to the data published by KSH, the natural decrease in the population was 34,600 (35 per thousand people) last year, declining from the previous year’s 38,089 (39 per thousand).
