Hungary: population decline slows down
The rate of population decline slowed down in the first seven months of the year as there were more births and less deceases compared to the same period a year ago, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said yesterday.
According to preliminary figures, 51 605 children were born in the first seven months of the year and there were 72 517 deceases. The number of newborns increased by 2.9% and number of deceases fell 3.3% compared to the previous year.
The number of marriages increased by 4.7%, that is 914 more weddings than a year before. There were 20,377 marriages registered between January and July 2014.Â
