Hungary guests nights climb 5.3% in August

The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary rose 5.3pc to 3,512,000 in August from the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Monday.
The increase followed a 3.3% rise in the previous month.
The number of guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose 4.5% to 1,636,000. The number spent by domestic guests was up 6.0% to 1,875,000.
The number of guest nights at hotels rose 11.9% to 2,285,000.
Germans spent 347,282 guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary in August, more than any other nationality. Visitors from Poland followed, with 135,908 guest nights. Italians spent 107,528 guest nights and the Dutch spent 99,524 guest nights.
Commercial accommodations generated gross revenue of HUF 32.4 billion in August, up 11.7% from the same month a year earlier. Revenue from room fees came to HUF 19.6 billion and catering revenue reached HUF 6.2 billion.
The gross average room rate at commercial accommodations was HUF 13,927 in August. Gross revenue per available room was HUF 8,821.
Gross revenue of hotels rose 13.7% to HUF 27.2 billion. The average occupancy rate at hotels was 63.3% in August.
