The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary reached 1.206m in November, up 0,6% from a year earlier, after adding 3.0% yr/yr in October, and gross revenue was up 7.8% to HUF 18.744bn, after a fall of 0.5% in October, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Tuesday.

November guest nights were down from October’s 1.543m, and gross revenue also declined from HUF 22.77bn.

The number of guest nights spent by foreign tourists rose 10.2% yr/yr to 590,000, but the number of guest nights spent by domestic tourists fell 7.1% to 616,000.

The number of rooms at commercial accommodations in Hungary climbed 5.9% in twelve months to 72,453 in November, but was down from 82,975 in October. Of these, 49,125 were hotel rooms, 5.3% more than a year ago but fewer than the 50,907 in October.

The number of guest nights spent at hotels increased 4.2% yr/yr to 1.049m. The yr/yr growth in October was 6.9% to 1.318m. Gross revenue of hotels rose 10.4% to HUF 17.325bn in November. In the previous month yr/yr growth was 1.1% to HUF 21.037bn.

The occupancy rate at hotels averaged 43.0% in November, down from 49.6% in October.

The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in January-November came to 18.316m, down 1.3% from the same period a year earlier. Gross revenue was up 2.2% at HUF 227.08bn in the first eleven months.

Foreign guest nights totalled 9.361m in January-November, up 2.3% and domestic guest nights fell 4.8% to 8.955m in the period.

The average room rate at Hungarian hotels was HUF 14,747 in November after HUF 15,271 in October, and HUF 14,269 in January-November. Gross revenue per available room came to HUF 6,339 after HUF 7,577 in October, and HUF 6,755 in January-November.
