Hungarians lured to set up shop in Romania

Hungarian-Romanian companies accounted for 129 of the 5,600 new joint ventures established in Romania during the first five months of 2008, making Hungary the second most active country behind Italy.

A total 5,600 new joint ventures was registered in Romania in January-May with combined registered capital of €1.9 billion, according to figures from Romania's National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The largest number of these joint ventures, 393, was registered in Bucharest, according to the INS data.

Of the 5,600 joint ventures, 203 involved companies from Italy, 129 were Romanian-Hungarian joint ventures, 86 involved companies from Germany and 73 involved companies from Cyprus, according to the INS data. (MTI – Econews)
