Hotel occupancy rate 65.1% in May

Hungary's hotels had an average occupancy rate of 65.1% in May, down from 67% in the same month of 2005, but up from 59.5% in April, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Wednesday.

The number of guest nights was down 5.5% year-on-year in May and dropped 0.9% year-on-year in the first five months of the year. Hotels had an average occupancy rate of 52.5% in January-May, down from 53.4% in the same period last year.
The gross average room rate was Ft 19,631 (€74.56) in May, up 11.8% year-on-year, and gross revenue per available room (RevPAR) was Ft 12,784 in May, up from Ft 10,837 in 2005. In January-May, the gross average room rate was Ft 16,308, up 11.9% from the same period last year. RevPAR was up 8,554% at Ft 7,764.
