Hévíz Guest Nights Doubled Last Year

Tourism

The number of guest nights spent in Hévíz (190 km southeast of Budapest) almost doubled in 2022 compared to the year prior, the mayor of the city, Gábor Papp, announced yesterday, according to profitline.hu.

However, it has not yet reached the record of 2019, mainly due to the lack of Russian and Ukrainian tourists.

Papp said that while, in 2019, tourism in Hévíz hit a record number of guest nights at 1.233 million, the number dropped to 248,000 in 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic.

After the epidemic subsided, the number of guest nights more than doubled in 2021 to 512,000, and last year it exceeded 951,000 with another significant increase.
