The number of guest nights spent in Veszprém (115 km southwest of Budapest) more than doubled in April and May this year compared to the same period of the previous year, according to a report by profitline.hu.
The numbers also exceeded the indicators of last year's high season as well, Mayor Gyula Porga said in a summary of the first five months of the Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture 2023 program.
Porga said that 14,370 guest nights were spent in Veszprém during April and May this year, which is 117% more than the data for the same period last year.
The number of guest nights nationally decreased by 3% in this period compared to the previous year, he noted.
