Fidesz welcomes EPPʼs proposal to modify safe country list
Fidesz officials said they backed a proposal by the center-right European Peopleʼs Party to include all EU candidate countries in the list of safe countries for refugees, saying this change would contribute to identifying economic migrants and prevent abuse of political asylum rights and welfare services.
The change would allow Hungary to return migrants to Serbia, but Serbian officials have said that they do not have the means, or the European Union support, necessary to handle refugees.
