Domestic tourism up, foreign tourism down in Hungary

Hungarian tourists have spent 8%-9% more and foreign tourists 2%-3% fewer guest nights at Hungarian tourist accommodations so far in 2006 as compared to last year, Zoltán Somogyi, undersecretary at the ministry responsible for tourism, said on Friday.
Somogyi also said that tourists had spent 10.5 million guest nights in 747 Hungarian hotels over the last ten months, generating hotel revenues from accommodations fees of Ft 87 billion. Hotels had an occupancy rate of 49.5%, Somogyi noted.
