Audi starts serial production of new diesel engines in Hungary

Tourism

German car maker Audi started serial production of the world’s first twelve-cylinder diesel engine at its plant in Hungary, Audi Hungária Motor told MTI on Wednesday.

Audi spent Ft 1 billion (about $5.9 million) to integrate production of the twelve-cylinder engines into its eight- and ten-cylinder lines. The new engine will not affect output volume of the other engines, Audi Hungária spokeswoman Mónika Czechmeister told MTI.

Audi will put the twelve-cylinder 500hp engines into its Q7 model, which will be able to accelerate from naught to 100 kilometers an hour in just 5.5 seconds. (MTI-Econews)
