Despite the unfavourable summer weather, the number of people visiting the thermal baths of the city Gyula jumped by 42% in H1 due to the family-friendly expansion of waterpark facilities, László Boros, the director of Gyula Castle Baths, said at a press conference today.

AquaPalota water park, which opened at the site of the baths late last year, “saved” the season, Boros said. Of the 142,000 visitors to the Gyula baths in H1, 77,000 enjoyed the water park, he added.

Overall guest nights in Gyula were up 15% in January-August, said Gyula’s mayor Ernő Görgényi.
