Italian plastic container maker Serioplast has started building a plant in the Nyirbátor Industrial Park (northeast Hungary), the city’s mayor Mrs János Balla told MTI on Monday.

Serioplast will employ 50 staff at the 6,000-square-metre production hall, Mrs Balla said. The company plans to build two more similar halls in the park, she added. The size of the investment will only be known after the further phases are completed.

Serioplast has units in Italy, Germany and France. The company had revenue of more than €110 million in 2007.

Nyirbátor won a Ft 500 million EU development grant to establish the industrial park. The plant’s biggest tenants, so far, are Coloplast, a Danish maker of medical supplies, and the Hungarian-owned car cable maker Bátor Trade. More than 1,100 people work at the park. (MTI-Econews)
