Referendum sought on Sunday closures

Trade union alliance Liga and business association VOSZ are seeking a referendum on the legislation approved late December applying restrictions on opening hours for grocery stores on Sundays, Liga chairman István Gaskó said at a press conference on Friday.
Gaskó emphasized that neither Liga nor VOSZ are willing to ally with any political parties and expressed commitment to exclusively cooperate with civil organizations. If the National Election Committee accepts the initiative, Liga will withdraw from the matter and allow its members to decide on participation in the referendum, he added.
