Online parking at Budapest Airport
Budapest Airport has introduced an online parking system for all suitable car parks at the airport. The move is part of a program intended to develop the quality of parking products. The introduction of the new parking system involves the Terminal, Business, Holiday and Holiday Plus car parks, but not the Premium car park located on the kerbside of the terminal building as this car park is intended for ultra-short stay parkers. The new method is designed for over 24 hours parking. With online parking, it is possible to book and pay for parking using a computer or smartphone, at least 24 hours prior to the planned time of departure – and that is all it takes. All drivers then have to do when they arrive at the car park is wait for the license plate recognition system to issue a ticket, and they are free to enter. Passengers have a wide range of parking products to choose from to suit their travel plans and wallet. Following online payment, similarly to online airline bookings, they simply have to print out the confirmation bearing a barcode. This is needed as backup, to make sure that the system will work in case the license plate is difficult to read in winter weather. The significant online discounts provided by Budapest Airport take into account the date of travel and the utilization of the car parks, ensuring that conditions are adjusted to passengers’ travel habits.
