Thanks to direct capital investments, Hungary's industrial parks performed excellently in 2005, the Ministry of Economy and Transport said in an analysis on Thursday. The engine behind growth has become foreign companies smaller in size than previously.

Companies operating in industrial parks contributed about one third of Hungary's industrial output and generated 35% of all exports last year. Industrial parks employed 22.5% of all workers in the industry and boosted staff by 32,000 people last year.
Investments of entities in industrial parks between 1997 and 2005 totaled Ft 1,649 billion.
Industrial parks welcomed 373 new entrants last year, with an average staff of 50-55 people each.
Hungary had 179 industrial parks last year with 2,989 companies operating on 9,847 hectares. Total staff exceeded 171,000.
